My Learning Journey
My learning journey has been shaped by curiosity across disciplines — from data science, accounting, and cybersecurity to linguistics, philosophy, and cultural exploration. Along the way, I earned a CPA designation as well as graduate degrees in computer science, business administration, and accounting, experiences that deepened both my analytical thinking and appreciation for lifelong learning. Drawn to the patterns connecting systems, ideas, and human experience, I created Great Lakes Data Forest as a quiet space to document reflection, interdisciplinary exploration, and the evolving relationship between knowledge, creativity, and the modern world.
Core Beliefs
I believe learning is a lifelong journey shaped by curiosity, reflection, and interdisciplinary exploration. Whether through data science, accountancy, language, philosophy, cybersecurity, or culture, I seek connections between systems, ideas, and human experience. I value intellectual honesty, quiet growth, and the pursuit of understanding over rigid ideology or superficial performance. Knowledge, to me, is not merely information — it is a way of observing the world with depth, openness, and humility.
About Linden Lake
Linden Lake is the pen name behind Great Lakes Data Forest — a personal blog and evolving knowledge journal shaped by lifelong curiosity and interdisciplinary exploration. Born in China, raised in Japan, and having spent more than half of his life in the United States since college, his journey has been deeply influenced by multiple cultures, languages, and perspectives. These experiences fostered a lasting appreciation for diverse environments, cross-cultural dialogue, and the opportunity to continually learn from different cultures and ways of life, including but not limited to the warmth and vibrancy often found in Spanish and Latino communities.
Continue Along the Trail
New reflections and ideas will continue to grow across the forest over time.
